Nasir Kazmi, famous for his short meters and metaphors, published two collections in his lifetime and one posthumous. The partition of the Indian subcontinent is said to have a traumatic influence on Kazmi––perhaps as reflected in his vivid invocations of themes like pain, sorrow, and grief. Echoing a distinct sensibility, his poems have been renditioned by many notable ghazal performers. Kazmi was also associated with Radio Pakistan and edited Urdu journals.
